New Categories in Play for HIFFCO 2020
Attention Filmmakers!
We’ve made significant updates to our film submission category line up!
In 2020, we’ve added SEVEN new categories (in addition to 2019 categories) for filmmakers to showcase their unique voice and vision. Taking inspiration from filmmakers and the types of films attendees enjoy, we’ve added categories that bring a new and inspiring edge to #HIFFCO and expand the diversity of submissions.
Expanding the #HIFFCO Vision and Reach
The HIFF Team is especially excited to invite high school filmmakers into the mix for the first time! We want to encourage young people to follow their passion and get the guidance and feedback they need to grow as filmmakers. Between the opportunity to compete against peers and learn from seasoned filmmakers and industry professionals, students get real world experience with this category.
Other themes HIFFCO is excited to focus on in 2020 include adventure stories, extreme sports shorts, animations, experimental visionaries, narrative features AND a feature category for 360 films. We feel each category theme brings a fresh level of storytelling to HIFF and offers festival-goers a host of dynamic films to enjoy.
Here’s the rundown of the official NEW HIFFCO 2020 category names:
"Next Generation" National Student Short Film Category
"Wanderlust" Adventure Short Film Category
"Push It To The Limit" Extreme Sports Short Film Category
"Frame by Frame" Animated Short Film Category
"Results May Vary" Experimental Short Film Category
"Dreamweavers" Narrative Feature Film Category
"Another Dimension" Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and 360-Degree Feature Film Category
Submission Deadline Reminder
As we step into February 2020, we also wanted to share a quick reminder about submission deadlines. Regular entry deadlines are IN EFFECT on Film Freeway until MAY 1st. The final day for HIFFCO 2020 submissions is July 1, 2020.
To submit a film for HIFF, visit our page on Film Freeway and go for it. And remember - you can submit more than one film and the same film to more than one category!
